Cameroon Center for Democracy and Human Rights (CCDHR) is glad to
support the ALEC 2009 Conference on Democracy, Good
Governance, and Institutional Reform in Africa. This
conference which is being organized by the African
Leadership Empowerment Council (ALEC) in partnership
with the Department of African Studies at Howard
University is supported by various international and
regional organizations, including CCDHR.
The conference will serve as a forum for open democratic
dialogue among the entire population of expatriate
Africans, the African-American community, and all
other descendants of African ancestry in the United
States. The conference will also help to forge
connections with various African advocacy groups
through specific leadership mechanisms intended to
stimulate personal and mutual responsibility. The
conference will pave the way for
positive networking relations to foster strategies needed
to promote democratic changes across the African
continent.
ALEC in Focus
The African Leadership Empowerment Council (ALEC) is a US
527 political organization under the IRS Code
promoting the Continental African participation in
the American political mainstream as well as good
governance and democratic transitions in Africa.
ALEC is dedicated to assisting, strengthening, and
collaborating with any, and all forces, as well as
any organizations that are promoting and advocating
democratic transitions in Africa, and the
integration of Continental African in the American
political process at all levels. In this conference,
ALEC is going to launch a detailed template of
leadership and political actions designed to
highlight and implement its mission, vision and
strategic goals as a political organization under
the US Code.
Conference Goals
1.
The conference aims at projecting a Continental
African Political Agenda in the American political
process as well as the African Diaspora agenda for
concerted effort to help the difficult democratic
transitions in Africa.
2.
Project an agenda that can mobilize the entire
population of expatriate Africans in the developed
world as well as other Diaspora descendants of
Africa.
3.
The focus is to establish a reputation as a
political and action-oriented organization, and
create an agenda that leads to action-items by the
participants.
